About The Position

The Harris Orthopaedics Laboratory, established in 1969, is dedicated to improving patient outcomes through materials science and clinical research focused on orthopaedic applications. This laboratory serves as a hub for scientists and engineers aiming to make a significant impact in medicine, with a specific focus on developing polymeric and hybrid materials for orthopaedics. The lab is a key center for developing new materials and testing methods for total joint replacements. A current research focus is the development of antibacterial controlled release devices to combat periprosthetic joint infection. The laboratory is involved in all stages of material development, from conception and application process development to characterization for clinical indications and safety/efficacy testing in pre-clinical models.
