About The Position

The Department of Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Post-Doctoral position focused on distributed energy resource (DER) technology. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, and collaborative individual with a strong background in distributed energy technologies: combined heat and power (CHP), hybrid systems consisting of CHP configured with solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, and electrical and thermal storage technologies. Familiarity with DER systems configurations in the form of a microgrid or a district thermal networks is desirable. Some experience with the design and operation of existing working systems is preferred, particularly from an economic return-on-investment analysis perspective. The successful candidate will join a diverse, multidisciplinary team and play an active role in shaping the research direction of on-site energy technologies. Responsibilities will include leading research on emerging technologies, publishing and presenting research findings, mentoring graduate students, and contributing to proposal development and reporting to project sponsors.
