About The Position

The Sutter Laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Memphis is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow with strong experience in molecular and cell biology. You will join a NIH-funded multi-disciplinary team focused on the pharmacodynamics of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) ligands and their system level effects on skin biology. Preference will be given to applicants with a strong publication record and experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, and immunology. Experience using complex analytical methods such as RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, and metabolomics, as well as experience in cell culture models, animal genetics and data analysis is beneficial. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Competitive benefits package included.

Requirements

  • PhD in a Life Science discipline.
  • Strong experience in molecular and cell biology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in a laboratory setting that focuses on the pharmacodynamics of aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) ligands and their system level effects on skin biology.
  • Perform complex experiments using analytical methods of biochemistry, molecular biology, and immunology.
  • Perform experiments using RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, metabolomics, and flow cytometry.
  • Perform experiments in primary cell culture, organotypic culture and in vivo, in rodents.
  • Maintain good laboratory record keeping.
  • Participate in research compliance.
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Train others.
  • Write and submit scientific manuscripts.
