The Rehab Neural Engineering Labs in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh are seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals for a post-doctoral research position in spinal cord neural interface development for restoring sensations from prosthetic limbs. The post-doctoral research fellow will be working closely with a team of neural engineers and clinicians to perform pre-clinical studies to develop a spinal cord stimulation electrode to restore somatosensory feedback. With the supervision and support from the faculty, the postdoctoral research fellow is expected to take a leadership role and work independently in experiment design, data collection, data analysis, and paper publication. There will be opportunities to closely interact with multiple faculty investigators from clinical, engineering, and basic science departments across the University of Pittsburgh campus. The position involves the following research areas: • Development and testing of electrodes to stimulate the lateral spinal cord in preclinical models. The successful applicant will be joining a multidisciplinary team including scientists, engineers, and clinicians to design, develop, and test cutting-edge neural interfaces to restore sensory function and understand phantom limb pain for projects focused on clinical translation of somatosensory neuroprostheses.
