The Runyan Lab in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in systems neuroscience. Our research is focused on determining the local circuit computations in the cerebral cortex, and how these are reshaped by internal states. A new research direction involves a collaboration with Josh Tenenbaum (MIT) to apply cognitive science models to neural activity in mice performing probabilistic inference tasks. As part of this project, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn computational cognitive modeling methods at MIT with the Tenenbaum group. The Department of Neuroscience is part of a highly collaborative systems and computational neuroscience community situated on the Oakland campus of the University of Pittsburgh, and we are also affiliated with the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition. Pittsburgh is a city that is often voted “most livable” in the nation.
