We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Post Close Underwriter I to join our mortgage operations team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to grow their career in mortgage underwriting, quality control, and post closing operations. The selected candidate will receive hands-on training and mentorship while assisting with the review of closed loan files, clearing conditions, and ensuring compliance with agency, government, and investor guidelines.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of mortgage, banking, financial services, or administrative experience preferred.
  • Recent graduates with a degree in Business, Finance, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Basic understanding of mortgage lending or underwriting concepts is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn mortgage systems and technology platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Encompass, DU/LP, or mortgage documentation is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with post-close reviews of funded mortgage loan files for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Review documentation including income, assets, credit, and collateral to ensure files meet underwriting and investor requirements.
  • Support the review and resolution of conditions identified by third-party review (TPR) firms or investors.
  • Help gather and organize supporting documentation needed for condition clearance.
  • Communicate with internal departments including underwriting, closing, compliance, and operations teams.
  • Track open conditions and maintain accurate records of responses and loan status updates.
  • Learn and apply agency, government, and Non-QM guidelines through ongoing training and mentorship.
  • Assist with identifying documentation discrepancies and escalating issues as needed.
  • Maintain detailed and organized audit trails within company systems.
  • Participate in training sessions, process improvement initiatives, and team meetings.
