The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) CNA assists the Registered Nurse (RN) with the daily care of patients. This role involves direct patient care activities such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with ambulation and transfers. The CNA is responsible for accurately measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and daily weights, as well as maintaining accurate records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). They also play a role in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring patient comfort and safety by keeping the call light within reach and performing purposeful rounding. The position requires the ability to perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, handle nutritional needs, maintain skin integrity, and collect specimens. Additionally, the CNA will coordinate tests and treatments, maintain knowledge of hospital systems, and facilitate communication within the healthcare team. A key aspect of this role is demonstrating knowledge of age-specific care needs and maintaining a positive and harmonious work environment.
