About The Position

Berlitz is hiring a part-time, freelance Portuguese Instructor to teach students language and culture using the Berlitz Method. Instructors prepare and customize provided lesson materials to meet students’ needs, create a supportive environment for language practice, and document student progress after lessons. Berlitz provides students, support, platforms, technology, and training in the Berlitz Method. The schedule is based on the instructor’s availability, with a commitment of 15–20 hours per week. Instructors must keep their original schedule for the first 3–4 months. The role can be performed from home.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Expert-level Portuguese.
• Advanced-level English.
• Exceptional communication skills.
• Minimum internet speed of 15 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload.
• Stable wired internet connection; Wi-Fi is not sufficient.
• A PC or laptop running Windows 11 or higher, or macOS 11 or higher; Linux is not supported.
• USB headset and camera.
• In areas where load shedding occurs, a backup system to support devices is required.
• At least 2 GHz base processing speed and 8 GB or more of RAM.

Nice To Haves

• Teaching experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for lessons by reviewing provided materials and deciding what to teach and how to customize it for each student’s needs.
• Create a risk-free environment where students can make mistakes and experiment with the language.
• Document students’ progress after each lesson.
• Commit to providing 15–20 hours per week while scheduling lessons according to availability.
