About The Position

We are seeking a Ports & Marine Structural Engineer to join us in Miami, FL. Your role Perform engineering analysis and design, and production of engineering drawings and specifications for ports, marine and coastal structures including docks, piers, wharves, bulkhead, mooring and breasting dolphins, trestles and shoreside platforms for deepwater cruise and cargo ports, liquid and dry bulk terminals, shipyard and other waterfront and marine infrastructure. Perform inspection and condition assessment of ports and waterfront infrastructure. Perform engineering analysis and design, assist with the development of construction plans, specifications and cost estimates. Conduct data acquisition and analysis, researching the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and/or regulatory agency specifications or regulations. Work involves coordination, research and problem solving on a variety of engineering projects with unique or controversial problems, the solution of which has an important effect on major organization programs. Work closely with designers, other discipline engineers and project manager as part of a multidisciplinary project delivery team. Interface with the clients, subconsultants and other stakeholders as needed. Ensure all project documentation and deliverables are reviewed in accordance with corporate QA/QC procedures. Perform other duties as needed to support evolving business priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering (minimum required)
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in deepwater marine and waterfront infrastructure design, preferably with a consulting firm.
  • Knowledge of waterfront design codes and standards such as UFC, PIANC and ASCE/ COPRI.
  • Experience in structural design and analysis for waterfront and marine structures, including the use of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
  • Experience in finite element analysis tools such as STAAD and/ or SAP2000.
  • Experience in use of drafting software such as AutoCAD and/ or Revit.
  • Experience with mooring analysis using Optimoor, Orca flex, or comparable commercial software, as well as with calculations for ship mooring and berthing forces, including wave force modelling for moored ships.
  • EIT Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (preferred)
  • Preferred exposure in analysis and design of shallow and deep foundation, piles and sheet pile wall bulkhead using analysis tools such as LPile, CWALSHT and DeepEx.
