About The Position

The Portfolio Specialist is a key member of the investment team within the Investment Division at T. Rowe Price. This role serves as a critical link between portfolio management, distribution, clients, and other business partners, requiring deep investment expertise, strong commercial judgment, and close collaboration with portfolio managers. The Portfolio Specialist acts as the strategic lead for investment messaging across assigned strategies, working with a team of analysts, writers, and editors to support potential opportunities, retain existing clients, and drive business development. The role involves engaging with clients and prospects to understand their needs, proposing solutions using existing capabilities, and translating insights into clear messages for various stakeholders. Initially, this position will focus on promoting the US Mid-Cap Growth Equity strategy, with potential for expanded coverage of small and mid-cap strategies. It requires a commercial mindset, the ability to educate clients on the investment approach, service a large investor base, and present capabilities internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Prior experience with US equity strategies, preferably with US mid-cap growth equities and/or US small and mid-cap equities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex investment concepts clearly to a wide range of audiences.
  • Proven ability to navigate global investment organizations and collaborate effectively with portfolio managers, investment professionals, product, marketing, sales, and client service teams.
  • High level of energy and leadership, with a track record of supporting commercialization efforts and driving initiatives to completion in a team-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable using AI-enabled tools and workflows for analysis, data aggregation, and content generation, while maintaining responsibility for validation, interpretation, and quality control.

  • Minimum of 10 years of investment experience in a similar role, portfolio management, investment research, investment consulting, or institutional client service.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary US Mid-Cap Growth Equity portfolio specialist contributing to portfolio, market, performance, client, and product discussions.
  • Own the strategy’s commercial and investment narrative alongside the portfolio managers, ensuring clear, consistent, and compelling messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Build deep partnerships with portfolio managers to accurately represent their process, positioning, and investment views.
  • Act as an equity expert, articulating investment philosophy, process, portfolio positioning, performance, risk profile, competitive positioning, and investment relevance for clients.
  • Drive commercial growth through client engagement, prospecting, consultant support, marketing, and distribution partnership.
  • Shape solutions, content, and positioning that connect investment insights to evolving client needs.
  • Lead effort with distribution on marketing and PR activities, as well as client events, related to US Mid-Cap Growth Equity.
  • Travel regularly in North America to support the investment team and distribution efforts.
