About The Position

Responsible for providing competent credit analysis and portfolio management for commercial lending activities. Oversee credit workflows and processes necessary for the team to achieve optimal levels of production while maintaining excellent credit quality in the portfolio. Work directly with lenders and clients on requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field, or equivalent credit analyst knowledge gained through a combination of education and experience
  • One to three years of prior experience in commercial banking, or related field, preferably in credit analysis
  • Prior customer service experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial credit policy, regulations and credit quality standards
  • Knowledge and proficiency with various computer programs; including but not limited to Microsoft Word and Excel, nCino, Jack Henry, or other software commonly used in the banking industry
  • Analytical skills to assess and evaluate areas of responsibility including determination of loan risk involved and recommendation of credit limitations
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and ability to both prioritize and multi-task while adapting to changing workflow and personalities
  • Basic understanding of financial data such as cash flow, balance sheet, income statement, and collateral valuation
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and ability to apply concepts of basic math
  • Ability to process detailed information with accuracy and efficiency
  • Assignments involve work of a confidential nature, necessitating exposure to sensitive information and contacts requiring discretion
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate detailed information in clear, easy to understand manner
  • Must possess ability to prepare written reports and present formal presentations
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • The employee is constantly required to stand and walk.
  • Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation/inspection of machines and/or using measurement devices at distances close to the eyes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform commercial loan underwriting tasks such as analyze business & personal tax returns and financial statements, identify trends and concerns and work closely with assigned commercial team and customers to understand & mitigate credit issues
  • Assess credit worthiness of individuals, companies, and institutions
  • Assist Commercial Relationship Managers in the collection and review of regulatory compliance items, not limited to but including CRA, Adverse Action and other regulatory compliance requirements
  • Maintain optimal portfolio quality by monitoring and ensuring: Loan covenants are monitored in a manner that is timely and accurate, Annual loan reviews are completed in a manner that is timely and accurate, Graded credits have accurate and updated Problem Loan Reports, Maturing loans are tracked and properly addressed prior to maturity, Borrowing Base Certificates are timely, accurate and filed, Lines secured with A/R & inventory assets are not overdrawn, Financial reporting requirements are timely, accurate and filed, Portfolio delinquency is minimized
  • Provide informed professional opinions to loan officers regarding applicants financial/credit status, suggest loan structures, and support the lending process
  • Adherence and knowledge of loan policy to be used while underwriting and discussing potential loan requests
  • Undertake risk analysis using regional and industry-specific data and gauges market trends
  • Periodically accompany Commercial Relationship Managers on calls with existing and/or prospective customers as requested
  • Clearly and professionally communicate with lending teams and customers
  • Responsible for maintaining organized and current digital credit files. This includes updated personal and business tax returns and financial statements
  • Regular and predictable attendance to accomplish job duties and provide in-person contact with customers
  • Other duties as assigned
