About The Position

As Portfolio Manager, Materials, you collaborate with the Product Director, Materials to develop an end-to-end product strategy across the U.S. and Canada. You build understanding of customer needs, market segments, and competitive offerings to help shape a unique materials portfolio with clear positioning, optimized feature sets, and cost agreement. You work with multiple teams, including Commercial Excellence, Marketing Communications, Pricing, Customer Service, and field teams. You help develop impactful sales tools, training, field communications, and digital content that articulates product performance and competitive advantage. You use data from multiple sources to analyze sales, margins, and category performance, driving applicable recommendations. These programs should support growth, portfolio optimization, and new product success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering, chemistry, or a related technical discipline
  • 3+ years of experience in product development, product or portfolio management, strategic marketing, technical roles, or related sales experience
  • Led product development and R&D processes including Stage Gate, with the ability to work with technical details and translate them into business and market outcomes
  • Strategic, market‑driven thinker with market intelligence capabilities, including collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data to identify opportunities and inform decision‑making
  • Proven leadership, collaboration, and influencing skills, experience working across a matrixed, cross‑functional organization and engaging directly with customers
  • Experience communicating product benefits and value propositions, balancing multiple projects, presenting complex information, and achieving results
  • Ability to travel domestically

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales, margin, and category performance to support product roadmaps, guide next steps, and improve portfolio profitability
  • Partner with Product Director to develop quarterly complexity‑reduction plans, including end‑of‑life criteria, analysis, decision support, and portfolio transitions
  • Collaborate with R&D and technical teams to assess new technologies, prioritize formula revisions, manage the Compass process, and support new product development
  • Maintain understanding of portfolios, new product activity, and SWOT insights to inform positioning and strategic decisions
  • Lead label and packaging design processes and coordinate with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Operations to ensure supply readiness and launch understanding
  • Own Product Data Sheet (PDS) development in collaboration with Product Director, R&D, Technical, and PSS teams
  • Support understanding across leadership, marketing, sales, and field teams to lead portfolio understanding, positioning, and segment focus
