About The Position

Reporting to the VP, Investment Platform Support, the Portfolio Manager, Investment Practice Management & Unified Managed Account (UMA) Program Design is responsible for the design, governance, and ongoing evolution of the firm’s managed investment programs, including UMA program architecture, discretionary models, and investment practice standards. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight while ensuring alignment with firm strategy, platform capabilities, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in business, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ financial services experience with strong portfolio management expertise.
  • Experience supporting or working within a Unified Managed Account program, with exposure to its design, oversight, and day‑to‑day management.
  • Experience supporting cross-functional initiatives, programs, or platform-related work.
  • Valid Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and/or a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation is required.
  • Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day-to-day work and long-term goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities in a structured manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear documentation.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually).
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous situations with appropriate guidance.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion or progress toward the Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
  • Registration as an Advising Representative (AR) or Dealing Representative (DR), or eligibility to register, is preferred.
  • Experience or familiarity with advisor platforms, workflow systems, or financial services technology is an asset.
  • Experience with Investment Modelling and Trading Platforms is considered an asset. (Envestnet, Croesus, others)
  • Exposure to process mapping, workflow documentation, or business analysis concepts is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and governance of Unified Managed Account (UMA), Separately Managed Account (SMA), and model-based managed account programs.
  • Take ownership of the ongoing management, refinement, and evolution of the UMA program to ensure it remains competitive, scalable, and aligned with business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain investment practice management policies and procedures.
  • Provide senior‑level guidance and subject matter expertise on portfolio management, model development, trading platforms and other investment management tools.
  • Oversee advisor adoption of investment practice management tools and resources.
  • Act as senior subject matter expert on portfolio management and trading platforms.
  • Ensure managed investment programs align with business strategy, platform capabilities, and regulatory obligations.
  • Act as escalation point for complex program or platform matters and provide functional oversight to the Senior Analyst, Investment Platform Support.
  • Oversee advisor onboarding, platform training and documentation, issue resolution, and cross‑functional/vendor collaboration to ensure effective and consistent investment platform usage.
