About The Position

The Portfolio Manager I (PM I) is responsible for managing an existing book of loans/relationships by performing a variety of tasks such as monthly calls to all existing clients, annual site inspections, analysis of client’s financial statements, staying on top of approaching maturities to ensure that renewals are submitted timely to avoid unnecessary extensions, ensuring that loan files are complete and in accordance with Bank policy, and for actively managing technical exceptions. The PM I is also responsible for providing service to those client relationships by identifying their financial needs and filling those needs with the wide range of products and services offered by United Business Bank. These products and services may include extensions of commercial and/or real estate credits, demand, cash management, savings or time deposit account products or other services offered. They are responsible for analyzing loan requests and determining whether a loan is within an acceptable risk within the framework of the Bank’s policy and for preparing the required documents and submitting it for approval. The PM I is equally responsible for monitoring economic conditions applicable to the client’s financial condition as it may relate to increased risk to the Bank. The PM I will support the Regional Team Lead – Portfolio Management, the Chief Lending Officer and the Lending team with other duties as assigned. In addition, the PM I will perform all duties accurately, timely, efficiently and according to Bank policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines, as well as the SBA SOP, if appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of banking and lending operations and procedures
  • Knowledge of various regulations and standard banking practices
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Strong math skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong business development techniques and cross-selling skills
  • Ability to identify, analyze and handle credit requests
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good personal computer skills, ability to use Word and Excel
  • Professional appearance, dress and attitude
