•$131,893 - $201,053

About The Position

The Portfolio Director, Clinical Operations AI and Data coordinates Moffitt Cancer Center’s initiatives to safely and effectively implement its AI and data strategy for clinical operations. As the execution lead for the clinical-operations sub-portfolio within Moffitt’s enterprise AI portfolio of record, this role owns intake, vetting, prioritization, sequencing, deployment, workflow integration, adoption, and value tracking for AI initiatives across the Moffitt Medical Group, hospital, clinical departments, and ancillary services. The Director explores embedded AI and analytics in core clinical platforms such as Epic, as well as standalone products; assesses costs and benefits; partners with clinical leaders on business cases; and curates a portfolio of solutions. The role works through influence in a matrixed environment with clinicians, AI Governance, Information Technology, Cyber Security, and the PMO to vet solutions and establish implementation requirements. The portfolio includes both strategic opportunities for the future of cancer care and near-term opportunities to improve care delivery and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Data Science, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Computer Science, Project Management, or an equivalent field.
  • 10 or more years of progressive experience in healthcare informatics, clinical operations, data and analytics, digital health, or enterprise portfolio management, including experience at a Director-equivalent level of scope and influence.
  • Direct experience evaluating, piloting, or operationalizing AI/ML or advanced analytics solutions in a clinical, ancillary, or operational setting.
  • Technical knowledge sufficient to engage with data, informatics, and engineering teams, including foundational understanding of AI/ML models, generative AI, data pipelines, EHR data structures, integration patterns, and data readiness for AI.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with AI Governance, Information Technology, Cyber Security, and a PMO to vet solutions and define requirements for security, privacy, integration, model validation, change management, and resource planning.
  • Demonstrated experience working with clinical leaders to identify opportunities and develop business cases, including cost-benefit analysis and value definition.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives through influence in a matrixed environment without direct reporting authority.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clinical, ancillary, and operational leaders to identify AI opportunities that advance Moffitt’s Integrated AI Strategy and improve patient experience, clinical care, and ancillary department performance.
  • Frame opportunities by defining the problem, intended users, success measures, and value hypothesis.
  • Co-develop business cases with clinical sponsors, including total cost of ownership, implementation effort, expected clinical, operational, and financial value, and risk.
  • Define and track financial and non-financial value metrics for funded initiatives, including realized benefits versus baseline.
  • Explore embedded AI and analytics in core platforms such as Epic and standalone products across patient experience, clinical care, and ancillary departments.
  • Own deployment, integration, adoption, and ongoing optimization of validated clinical AI in integrated workflows, and operationalize models approved through enterprise AI governance.
  • Track new AI capabilities in core clinical and EMR systems, ancillary clinical platforms, and integrated analytics tools, including released, in-development, and roadmap features.
  • Coordinate vendor scans, demonstrations, pilots, and proof-of-value work to assess feasibility, clinical fit, and operational readiness.
  • Translate clinical and operational problems into scoped AI use cases and explain technical capabilities in terms of clinical and operational value.
  • Monitor external AI developments, including point solutions, peer academic medical centers, and oncology-specific tools.
  • Engage AI Governance early on model intake, validation, monitoring, bias and fairness, and responsible-use requirements; ensure initiatives meet enterprise governance requirements before commitment.
  • Partner with Information Technology on architecture, integration, HR and data platform fit, and data readiness.
  • Partner with Cyber Security on security, privacy, third-party risk, and regulatory considerations, including HIPAA, FDA SaMD, and ONC.
  • Partner with the PMO on intake, prioritization standards, resourcing, execution governance, and change management.
  • Ensure solutions advancing through the portfolio have clearly defined implementation requirements before commitment.
  • Curate a balanced portfolio of embedded AI and analytics and standalone products across patient experience, clinical care, and ancillary use cases.
  • Operate intake, triage, prioritization, sequencing, and stage-gate processes for new opportunities.
  • Maintain a current view of in-flight, planned, and retired initiatives, including status, value, risk, and dependencies.
  • Create and execute portfolio charters, roadmaps, strategy and management plans, governance and stakeholder models, communication plans, ideation processes, selection and prioritization criteria, value metrics, feasibility reviews, and change management; revise these as needs change.
  • Maintain the clinical-operations sub-portfolio as one of three sub-portfolios within Moffitt’s enterprise AI portfolio of record.
  • Align the portfolio with strategic priorities, the future of cancer care, current operational opportunities, enterprise goals, and Moffitt Medical Group and clinical department roadmaps.
  • Include clinical-operations analytics that directly drive care delivery, such as throughput, clinic capacity, provider clinical productivity, and care-pathway performance, coordinated with the business operations pillar.
  • Coordinate with functions supporting research and discovery and business operations to share intake standards, prioritization criteria, and value metrics and identify cross-pillar opportunities.
  • Partner on the research-to-operations handoff, taking approved models into clinical deployment, and collaborate where clinical workflows share operational or financial systems.
  • Coordinate with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship pillar as it matures to share standards and identify cross-pillar opportunities.
  • Lead initiatives through influence in a matrixed environment without direct reporting authority.
  • Draft briefing materials, portfolio dashboards, and presentations for executive, cabinet, and board-level audiences.
