About The Position

As a Portfolio Advisory Associate, you will perform a variety of functions working with the Portfolio Advisory team, in cooperation with the broader Private Client Solutions (PCS) group, monitoring holdings within the firm’s model portfolios (Guided Portfolios), answering equity research-related inquiries, and helping translate investment views into actionable portfolio decisions. In identifying actionable investment opportunities across asset classes, geographies and sectors, you will work, with and coordinate with, other team members, including the Investment Strategy team, to ensure strategies are implemented across internal publications, products, and the firm’s model portfolios. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator, comfortable with client presentations, a team player with a passion for financial markets and a strong inclination to support our advisory channel. The candidate is a self-motivated individual with exceptional analytic and communication skills. The candidate will bring to the role an ability to work within deadlines both independently and as part of a team, proven effective time management skills, and a focus on customer service. Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Advisory, and as a key member of the PCS group, the candidate’s contributions are important to effective model portfolio oversight, advisor-facing portfolio advisory support, and consistent implementation of PCS investment views across portfolios for the benefit of the Financial Advisors and their clients.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in financial services, investment research, or portfolio support
  • Strong English writing skills - French fluency is an asset
  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree with a Finance or Economics focus
  • Currently enrolled in, or completed, the CFA program
  • Strong fundamental and quantitative analysis skills
  • Excellent proficiency with MS Office particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Financial modeling, graphing, and data analysis skills
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a cooperative team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Superior problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work within deadlines in a high-volume, pressure-oriented environment
  • The ability to effectively handle confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Bloomberg or FactSet is an asset
  • Experience in programming or managing and analyzing datasets is an asset
  • Knowledge of Python is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Guided Portfolio companies by tracking earnings releases, company announcements, news flow, and relevant research reports
  • Support the development of portfolio-focused commentary, advisor-facing materials, and internal analysis that supports ongoing product due diligence requirements, portfolio reviews and investment decision-making
  • Help ensure advisor-facing materials are consistent with investment views and cross-asset input from within PCS
  • Build relationships with Investment Advisors, demonstrate a high level of customer service, and respond to advisor requests related to portfolio reviews, individual equities, and analyst insights
  • Liaise with Institutional Equity Analysts to remain current on their outlooks and top ideas, participate in regular calls to assess evolving views, serve as a point of contact for advisor research inquiries, and support the evaluation of relevant analyst insights into Guided Portfolio discussions and decision-making processes
