About The Position

BASIC FUNCTION: Maintains and cleans all common areas of the building, both inside and outside, keeping them decent, safe, and sanitary. MAJOR DUTIES: · Maintains air conditioners by cleaning filters and condensers monthly. · Checks smoke detectors, emergency lights, and locks on fire exits to ensure that they are safe and operational monthly. · Change fuses, light bulbs, and ceiling tiles when required. · Unclogs drains, toilets, and sinks. · Uses a meter to measure UV lighting. · Assists in conducting fire drills. · Sets up chairs, podium, TV/VCR, microphone, and overhead projectors upon request. · Tags equipment of fixed assets as part of the inventory control program. · Cleans, sanitizes, mops, washes, and maintains common areas, including dining area, bathrooms (done daily), elevator, lobby, hallways, waiting areas, roof drains, and laundry rooms if applicable. · Empty and place trash in appropriate receptacles outside of the building on identified days. · Sweeps and cleans in front of the building. · Removes snow on snow days/storms and puts salt down to keep the area safe for building, building occupants, and the general public. · Replenishes toilet accessories and requests replacement accessories as needed. · Maintains the walls free of graffiti and cleans windows, walls, and other identified surfaces. · Assists tenants in moving belongings in and/or out of the building if applicable. · Assures residents' and staff safety while cleaning by posting appropriate signs. · Fills in for other Porters who are on vacation or out for the day. · Expected to be on site during emergencies as needed. Performs other duties as requested or assigned

Requirements

  • High School graduate, GED and/or Trade School Diploma, and 2 years Porter or equivalent experience.
