About The Position

Mayflower Gardens, a 502-unit senior apartment community located in Lancaster, CA, is seeking a dependable and hardworking Porter to support the overall upkeep of the property. This role is essential in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal of the community, ensuring a comfortable and welcoming environment for residents. The Porter plays a key role in day-to-day operations by assisting with janitorial tasks, maintaining common areas, and supporting the maintenance team as needed. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, demonstrates attention to detail, and is committed to providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained living environment for our senior residents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, janitorial work, or property maintenance is preferred but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow instructions, and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 25-50 pounds regularly.
  • Moderate bending, stooping, and physical activity required daily.
  • Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the outside appearance of the community, including landscaping, walkways, and parking lots.
  • Perform daily trash runs to keep the grounds free of litter and debris.
  • Empty and replace liners in trash receptacles around the community grounds and in common areas.
  • Clean and organize outdoor spaces, including courtyards, entryways, and sidewalks.
  • Clean and sanitize laundry rooms daily to ensure they are tidy and functional for residents.
  • Clean and maintain light fixtures and globes in common areas.
  • Ensure hallways, stairwells, and shared spaces are free of dust, dirt, and cobwebs.
  • Paint curbs, benches, or other community features as necessary to maintain a professional appearance.
  • Assist in removing items left behind by vacating residents.
  • Support maintenance staff in preparing units for turnover.
  • Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Operate equipment such as blowers, pressure washers, and floor scrubbers as needed.
  • Assist with special cleaning or maintenance projects as assigned.
