About The Position

We are looking for a Porter in our Northampton MA site to perform all tasks required to sanitize and maintain the cleanliness of the facility and grounds using safe work practices. Perform a variety of duties including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, cleaning, vacuuming and washing of furniture, fixtures and equipment through the facility on a daily basis or as directed. This role is part of a bargaining unit and is governed by the applicable union contract.

Requirements

  • High School or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • 2 years janitorial or custodial experience in an industrial or institutional environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend manufacturer's documentation including but not limited to technical data sheets and MSDS's.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Must be able to lift 32 lbs, sit or stand for up to 8 hours, climb stairs, use ladders.
  • Must be capable of walking, repetitive crouching, bending, lifting and working on knees.
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Sweep, dust, clean, vacuum and wash furniture, fixtures and equipment through the facility as required.
  • Clean and sanitize all fixtures and surfaces in restrooms, food prep areas, conference rooms and all other areas as directed.
  • Monitor, maintain stock and replenish all consumables throughout the facility as required.
  • Support all activities in the facility involving reorganization and/or renovation.
  • Perform floor maintenance as required, including but not limited to vacuuming, washing, stripping, waxing and buffing.
  • Collect, breakdown and/or discard all refuse and recyclable materials and segregate those waste streams as required to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Performs job duties with a minimum of supervision per prescribed routine or verbal instructions.
  • Comply with all OSHA, MADEP, EPA and DOT regulations and programs.
  • Safely handle, use and dispose of various chemicals, ect., as required.
  • Properly complete and maintain all compliance and preventative maintenance records.
  • Serve as a first responder to chemical emergencies and blood home pathogens (BBP) incidents.
  • Follow all procedures required to properly clean and maintain the clean room and other areas with unique requirements.
