About The Position

Fyda Freightliner Columbus is an Elite Support Certified dealer of new Freightliner trucks and Crane Carrier vocational severe-service vehicles, and carries a large inventory of all-makes of pre-owned trucks. Fyda Freightliner Columbus is the largest retailer of new and used Expediters in the United States. Serving the Columbus transportation industry hub since 1985, we operate as a full-service commercial truck dealership and body shop.

Requirements

  • Be able to work M-F, 10:30AM-7:00PM.
  • Know how to jump start a truck
  • Have a basic knowledge of Class 8 Truck Systems
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of Class 8 driving or repairing experience
  • Have valid CDL-B
  • Ability to work with multiple levels of employees
  • Ability to work with various type of customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to resolve conflicts
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft office
  • Ability to learn basic computer systems
  • Professional and friendly demeanor
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to give clear direction in a tactful manner
  • Ability to maintain multiple pieces of information simultaneously
  • Ability to crossover train with Service Transporter
  • Must maintain an MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets the Company’s eligibility.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening. (Fyda Freightliner follows the National DOT guidelines and tests for marijuana.)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all parking within the lot
  • Know basic signs of undriveable truck to be able to avoid extra damage
  • Improve parking segregation based on OTJ observations
  • Coordinate with Service Transporter and Foremen to set up a testing queue based on customer needs/timelines
  • Perform Daily lot checks and notify management of all vehicles sitting more than 7 days after repairs are complete
  • Coordinate with foremen to stage vehicles based on destination in designated parking spots
  • Write up to 1-2, EA to 3-8 and Main Shop to 9-13
  • Update stories in DMS and Uptime Pro
  • Direct and greet customers upon arrival and guide to service desk
  • Park customer’s trucks after write-up
  • Assist in keeping the driving lanes clear
  • Guide un-decker’s to proper un-decking area
  • Stage vehicles for customer pickup
  • During write-up properly prep customer vehicle with tags, mats, etc.
  • Must carry and utilize a two-way radio for communication
  • Visually inspect trucks for lot damage while in our care
  • Ensure trucks that came in overnight are parked in appropriate spots and properly tagged/prepped
  • Periodic lot patrol for customers that are prohibited working on their trucks in the parking lot
  • Inspect trailer area for trash/debris and clean up
  • Maintain sidewalk areas free of trash, cigarette butts etc.
  • Follow truck lock out tag out procedures
