Founded in London in 2014, Farmer J is a fast-growing restaurant group with 15 thriving locations in the UK and we’re bringing our mission to the US, starting with our very first NYC location in late 2025. We're seeking enthusiastic and dedicated porters/dishwashers who will bring a strong work ethic and a genuine sense of empathy to providing warm, attentive service and creating memorable experiences for our diverse clientele.

Requirements

  • No formal qualifications required; prior experience in a kitchen or cleaning role is an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a willingness to learn new tasks quickly.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift light to moderate loads.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high hygiene standards.
  • Ability to see, hear, speak, reach, lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally, and to be on your feet for extended periods (typically 8 hours).
  • Ability to bend, move, and shift positions throughout your shift.

Responsibilities

  • Washing and sanitizing dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using both manual and industrial dishwashing methods.
  • Cleaning kitchen surfaces, floors, walls, equipment, and storage areas to maintain health and safety standards.
  • Removing and properly disposing of kitchen waste and recycling in a timely manner.
  • Assisting chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients when needed.
  • Restocking kitchen stations with necessary supplies (e.g., plates, cutlery, ingredients, cleaning products) as required.
  • Ensuring all cleaning materials and chemicals are used safely and stored appropriately.
  • Reporting equipment faults or maintenance issues to the supervisor or manager promptly.
  • Following all health and safety regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
