About The Position

Storage On Site (SOS), based out of Collingwood, Ontario, is part of Make Space Storage’s growing Portable & Mobile Storage Division. Throughout the region, we also operate as Make Space Storage with multiple self-storage facilities across Ontario. Our portable division delivers flexible storage solutions to residential, commercial, and business customers in Collingwood and the surrounding areas. This position combines commercial driving, yard operations, equipment handling, and container preparation. You will work closely with dispatch while operating independently in the field to deliver portable storage units safely and efficiently.

Requirements

  • Valid Ontario Class AR license required with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Experience driving a gooseneck trailer.
  • Forklift certification or equivalent experience required.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle safety inspections and load securement.
  • Mechanically inclined with basic repair capability.
  • General Maintenance skills essentials.
  • Comfortable using tablets, GPS systems, and mobile technology.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of professional driving experience preferred.
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles such as F-series trucks or similar equipment.
  • A class D or DZ license is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the company truck and container mule for portable storage units.
  • Deliver and pick up units throughout Collingwood and surrounding area.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and safety checks.
  • Secure loads and ensure safe, accurate placement at customer sites.
  • Maintain compliance with all transportation and safety regulations.
  • Operate forklift to load, unload, and reposition containers.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of yard areas.
  • Inspect units prior to delivery to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Perform minor repairs and basic maintenance on containers.
  • Assist with staging and preparation of units for upcoming deliveries.
  • Work directly with dispatch for scheduling and job updates.
  • Report job status through tablet, GPS, and company systems.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams.
  • Support regional team members as required.
