About The Position

Genesis Marine is a company that provides marine transportation services, primarily serving refineries and storage terminals along the Gulf Coast, East Coast, and various river systems in the United States. They own and operate two fleets, inland and offshore, with a significant number of vessels. Genesis Marine emphasizes providing a safe and competitive service, adhering to strict operating procedures that exceed customer and regulatory requirements. This is a management position responsible for ensuring vessels are crewed, operated, and maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and customer expectations. The role may involve travel to multiple locations with extended stays away from the homeport.

Requirements

High School or GED
Must live in or within 50 miles of New Orleans/Baton Rouge
Minimum 10 years’ experience in the maritime industry.
Minimum 5 years as a Captain.
Supervisory skills
Master of Towing Vessels
TWIC Card
Personal Radio License
Radar Observer
QI Training
Incident Investigation

Responsibilities

Enforce Genesis Marine’s Safety Management System for the operation of a safe and environmentally sound fleet.
Ensure all vessel personnel comply with regulatory training requirements.
Assist in the development and adherence of the operational budgets.
Investigate vessel damage, product spills, and personal injuries.
Ensure all proper documentation is completed accurately.
Review orders that are dispatched for accuracy prior to transit and loading.
Review load plans as needed.
Supervise licensed and unlicensed personnel and crew management development.
Responsible for Navigational Standards.
Inspect vessels to ensure in good working condition.
Arranges for coordination of assist tugs, pilots and crew care as necessary.
Provide technical expertise for specialized jobs in the field.
Port Captains will be assigned no more than 10 vessels.
