About The Position

Fortify Children's Health seeks a Population Health Interoperability Specialist. This role is responsible for the conversion of data from various sources into standardized formats for population health utilization, as well as analysis and display of this data. Fortify Children’s Health is a pediatric clinically integrated network (CIN) co-founded by Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters and the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital. The Interoperability Specialist prepares data from multiple EHRs, Payor claims, and Health Information Exchanges before loading it into the Health Data Intelligence (HDI) platform. The specialist also supports the extraction of data from HDI and transforms and loads data via API into other platforms as needed. Responsibilities include back-end data validation and supporting data validation with front-line clinicians. This position requires strong knowledge of SQL, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, scripting for data manipulation, and experience with Healthcare Data. Additional activities include data integrity monitoring and creating dashboards in OCI or Tableau. Due to the immediate need, the candidate should be able to contribute without extensive training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in a field related to data analytics from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of experience in design, collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of quantitative information in a pediatric clinically integrated network setting.
  • Experience must include working with both claims and electronic health record data, and ideally with Health Information Exchange data.
  • Experience with multiple EHR vendors preferred (i.e. Epic, Oracle, Office Practicum, eClinicalWorks).
  • Demonstrated ability in database development, programming, data analysis and display, as evidenced by certifications in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle SQL, and/or Tableau.
  • Strong knowledge of data cleaning methods and transformation; experience using scripting to clean, consolidate, and transform textual data.
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting language required.
  • Must have demonstrated organizational skills, the ability to manage a large volume of work, tight deadlines, and frequently shifting priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3 years relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Health Information Exchange data.
  • Experience with multiple EHR vendors preferred (i.e. Epic, Oracle, Office Practicum, eClinicalWorks).

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with department personnel to gather data requirements, formats, necessary conversions and ETL processes, and provides information needed for data-driven decisions.
  • Understands CIN needs for data and display of data and end goals to support contracts.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation used for the design, coding and utilization of data.
  • Predicts the meaning of data by cleansing, screening, and applying statistical methods and algorithms when necessary.
  • Maintains data integrity and security to keep data management systems current.
  • Explores and identifies opportunities for improvements; recommends enhancements to improve and optimize the environment.
  • Keeps abreast of trends, best practices, and new developments pertaining to data management and analytics.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and specialized projects as assigned.
