About The Position

The Pool Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy according to established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health protocols. The role receives specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) accurately and promptly, distributes specimens to the appropriate testing sections according to collection priority, and faxes and distributes results as appropriate. The employee maintains knowledge of and follows departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and addresses patient questions and concerns. The estimated pay range is $23.50 per hour, depending on shift as applicable.

Requirements

• High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or experience.
• Phlebotomy and computer skills.
• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
• Minimum required experience: less than one year.
• AAMA Certified Medical Assistant or Phlebotomist Certification.

Nice To Haves

• Phlebotomy or medical assistant certificate.
• Hospital phlebotomy experience with pediatric, geriatric, oncology, and neonate patients.
• Bilingual skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy in accordance with established National Patient Safety Goals and Baptist Health published protocols.
• Receive specimens into the Laboratory Information System accurately and promptly.
• Distribute specimens to testing sections according to collection priority, including prioritizing STAT specimens over routine specimens.
• Fax and distribute results as appropriate.
• Maintain knowledge of and follow policies and procedures used within the department and throughout the hospital.
• Address patient questions and concerns.
