About The Position

Mountaineer Cleaning & Maintenance is seeking an experienced Pool Maintenance Technician to join their growing team. This role focuses on residential pool maintenance, requiring hands-on expertise in water chemistry and equipment management, rather than commercial automated systems. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, understands water chemistry, and enjoys working independently to maintain beautiful, safe, and swim-ready pools.

Requirements

  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification
  • Valid Driver's License and Clean Driving Record
  • Reliable Transportation
  • Strong Understanding of Residential Pool Water Chemistry
  • Experience interpreting water test results
  • Experience diagnosing chemistry-related problems
  • Experience calculating chemical adjustments
  • Experience treating algae outbreaks and water quality issues
  • Experience managing water balance independently
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical labor throughout the day

Responsibilities

  • Skim debris and remove leaves
  • Brush walls, steps, and tile lines
  • Vacuum pool floors
  • Empty skimmer and pump baskets
  • Maintain clean, attractive, swim-ready pools
  • Test and balance pool water chemistry
  • Adjust pH, chlorine, alkalinity, calcium hardness, and stabilizer levels
  • Diagnose and correct water quality issues including algae, cloudiness, staining, and scaling
  • Calculate and apply appropriate chemical treatments
  • Monitor water conditions and make proactive recommendations
  • Inspect pumps, filters, heaters, chlorination systems, and other equipment
  • Identify potential issues before they become costly repairs
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance when appropriate
  • Report larger repair needs to management
  • Maintain accurate service records
  • Track chemical usage and maintenance activities
  • Document equipment conditions and repair recommendations
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and property managers
  • Answer customer questions and concerns
  • Recommend maintenance, repairs, and additional services when appropriate
  • Follow all company safety procedures and industry best practices
  • Handle pool chemicals safely and responsibly
