About The Position

The Pool Lifeguard is responsible for guarding and protecting patrons using the Forest Home aquatic facilities. This role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and safety of all aquatics facilities and providing excellent customer service to create a fun, welcoming, Christ-centered environment. Opportunities may arise to train and work in other areas of the Forest Home recreation department, including Ziplines, Climbing Wall, Hikes, light buildings & grounds maintenance, and other camp work.

Requirements

• Current American Red Cross CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, & AED certification, or be willing and physically able to be certified
• Must be able to pass the American Red Cross pre-training swim test (300-yard continuous swim, 2-minute tread water, 20-yard swim with 10-pound object retrieval and return)
• Working towards High School diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 16 years old
• Must be comfortable and confident in possible high stress situations
• Uphold and support the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Forest Home
• Assume responsibility for initiating a pleasant atmosphere by displaying a professional attitude through performance, appearance, and demeanor
• Actively supports and participates in the staff spiritual life activities
• Signed statement of faith
• Excellent people skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrate ability to perform high quality work and accomplish assigned projects
• Strong ability to work well in a variety of team environments

Nice To Haves

• Prior lifeguard experience preferred but not required
• Preferred experience in job or ministry that requires guest interaction and service with people of all ages

Responsibilities

• Perform lifeguard duties at the pool facility
• Maintain a level of physical fitness that meets the American Red Cross standard for lifeguards
• Support and uphold Recreation safety plans and procedures
• Assure equipment is inspected and maintained
• Provide excellent and Christ-like service to guests and fellow staff
• Perform other duties as assigned

• $250 signing bonus will be received at the end of the summer season
