About The Position

The Pool Attendant is responsible for maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe swimming pool environment for residents. This includes managing swimming pool chemicals, maintaining required logs, ensuring the availability of equipment and supplies, and adhering to health and safety regulations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of swimming pools.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and basic numbers.
  • Ability to speak simple sentences.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to walk.
  • Frequently required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Attendance/Punctuality: Consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent; Arrives at meetings and appointments on time.

Responsibilities

  • Cleans assigned facilities (e.g., swimming pool, pool deck, equipment areas, showers) to maintain a sanitary and safe condition.
  • Inspects the swimming pool, deck, and mechanical equipment to ensure safe operations, cleanliness, and identify necessary repairs.
  • Evaluates equipment function to maintain facilities and comply with mandated health requirements.
  • Maintains the pool, including proper chemical and PH levels, to comply with mandated safety and health requirements.
  • Assists in maintaining swimming pool equipment (e.g., backwashing filters, pump equipment) to ensure proper working condition.
  • Maintains records for an up-to-date reference trail and compliance with mandated requirements.
  • Monitors inventory levels of chemicals and other pool maintenance supplies to ensure availability.
  • Performs minor repairs to swimming pool equipment and facilities to maintain safe operating condition.
  • Prepares purchase orders for needed supplies.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding swimming pool operations.
  • Stocks chemicals and other supplies to maintain adequate quantities and security.
  • Assists other personnel as required.
  • Performs other duties or job functions that can be performed safely as required or deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.
