About The Position

The Polysomnography Technologist will be responsible for patient setup and education, conducting sleep studies, and performing data analysis and reporting. This role involves preparing patients for sleep tests, monitoring equipment, and scoring sleep stages to generate reports for physician interpretation. The technologist must also maintain equipment, follow safety procedures, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers.

Requirements

Associate degree or higher in Polysomnography, Respiratory Therapy, or Nursing
Must be eligible for or hold RPSGT certification (within 18 months of hire)
Valid NYS license: Respiratory Therapist, Respiratory Technician, or Polysomnographic Technologist
BLS certification required within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

Collect and assess medical, emotional, and social history relevant to testing
Educate patients on testing procedures before, during, and after the study
Prepare, calibrate, and apply sensors and electrodes to ensure accurate data capture
Fit PAP masks and perform mask troubleshooting
Administer a range of tests (PSG, MSLT, MWT, PAP titrations, oxygen studies)
Monitor and adjust equipment for clean, artifact-free signal acquisition
Record clinical events, behavior, and any protocol deviations
Deliver age-appropriate care for patients across all life stages
Score sleep stages and clinical events following standardized guidelines
Generate precise, actionable reports for physician interpretation
Maintain and calibrate sleep study equipment
Follow safety and infection control procedures (Exposure Category I)
Support quality assurance and performance improvement activities
Communicate professionally with patients, providers, and team members
