About The Position

The Polysomnography Technologist provides care for patients undergoing sleep studies and sleep disorder treatment. This per-diem, night-shift position is located in Hollywood, Florida. The role requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements

• Completion of an accredited sleep technology program, or another listed qualifying educational or experience pathway.
• Successful completion of a Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) pathway meeting educational requirements for the RPSGT exam.
• May hold one of the listed credentials: Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Certified Polysomnographic Technologist (CPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS).
• Critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience is preferred.
• National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for patient arrival by setting up equipment for the ordered test.
• Interview patients or parents to identify sleep disorder concerns and explain testing procedures.
• Perform sleep testing and any additional testing required for identified sleep disorders.
• Score, interpret, and report sleep study results.
• Educate patients about test results, sleep disorders, community support groups, and available resources.
• Prepare, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain testing equipment.
• Determine and report equipment repairs and replacements that are needed.
