About The Position

This position involves performing polysomnography procedures on patients with suspected sleep disorders, adhering to facility policies and procedures. The role requires completing technical reports, processing patient charge information, and maintaining accurate medical records and documentation. The technologist will identify and perform basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting, eliminate artifacts, monitor patients, and ensure safety during procedures. Communication with other patient care support staff is essential. Responsibilities also include preparing patients for testing, communicating procedure information, answering questions, ensuring accurate electrode application, and collecting information pertinent to test interpretation. The technologist is also responsible for stocking and maintaining supplies and equipment and preparing patient rooms for procedures. Requirements

  • Education requirements as required by license and certification requirements detailed below.
  • Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.
  • Registry eligible by holding a certification in another Allied health profession approved by the BRPT and must pass the exam within the first 6 months of employment.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • Two years of experience in Polysomnography.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health sciences or related field.
  • Experience in a pediatric environment.

Responsibilities

  • Completes technical reports, processes patient charge information, and maintains accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Identifies and performs basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
  • Monitors patients and maintains safety during procedures.
  • Communicates to other patient care support staff.
  • Performs a variety of polysomnography procedures on patients with possible injury and disease resulting in sleep disorders according to established policies and procedures.
  • Prepares patients for testing, communicating procedure information and answering questions, and ensures accurate electrode application.
  • Collects information pertinent to the interpretation of the test results.
  • Stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate levels and proper functioning.
  • Prepares patient rooms for polysomnography procedures.
