About The Position

UBMD Pediatrics is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Polysomnography Technician to support pediatric patients in a specialized, pediatric-only sleep lab. The role involves helping children and adolescents ages 0–21 feel comfortable during overnight visits, performing diagnostic and therapeutic sleep studies, monitoring patients, maintaining equipment, and preparing the lab environment. The technician is a first point of contact for patients and helps provide a welcoming experience from appointment scheduling through the study. The position is full-time and onsite, with three 12-hour shifts per week. Overnight studies last eight hours and involve monitoring up to two patients per night. On-the-job training is provided, and prior experience is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent, LPN, or completion of an RT or PSGT degree.
A valid or current New York license or credential as a polysomnographic technologist or respiratory therapist: RPSGT, CPSGT, BRPT, RRT, RTT, or CRT.
Candidates who are not RPSGT or RST must be enrolled in or complete A-STEP within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic and therapeutic polysomnograms for pediatric and adolescent patients ages 0–21.
Apply electrodes and monitoring equipment to patients undergoing sleep studies.
Monitor and maintain equipment for up to two patients per night during eight-hour overnight sleep studies.
Prepare the sleep lab and equipment before each study and clean up after procedures.
Wash reusable equipment, make and strip beds, and handle laundry.
Communicate with pediatric patients and their parents regarding sleep studies and related medical concerns.
