About The Position

This role involves executing sleep studies (polysomnograms), advocating for patient safety, analyzing sleep data, and managing diagnostic equipment. The technologist will prepare patients for sleep studies by applying electrodes and sensors, monitor patients throughout the night, identify sleep stages and respiratory events, and calibrate diagnostic equipment.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Reg Polysomnographic Tchnlgst credentialed from the Tennessee Polysomnography Professional Standards Committee obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'sdegree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing patients for polysomnograms (PSGs), which involves applying electrodes and sensors to monitor brain waves, heart rate, and breathing.
  • Interviewing patients to understand their specific symptoms and monitoring them throughout the night to intervene during apneic events or equipment malfunctions.
  • Scoring the study—identifying sleep stages, respiratory events (hypopneas/apneas), and limb movements to provide an interpreted report for the physician.
  • Calibrating sensitive diagnostic equipment and performing troubleshooting or repairs to ensure data integrity.
