About The Position

Under the supervision of the Center for Sleep Disorders Director, the Polysomnographic Technologist performs all types of diagnostic testing offered in the department. Functions include equipment and patient calibration, set-up, performance, documentation, and troubleshooting of Polysomnographic recordings, tabulation and processing of test information, and sleep laboratory logistical operations. The role also involves oversight, education, and training of PSG and student technologists during the work shift. The technologist participates in performance improvement programs and new program development. They assume responsibility and accountability for patients in the department, providing care through assessment, observation, and documentation. The position requires the ability to perform emergency procedures, work in a stressful environment under minimal supervision, and possess strong organizational and prioritizing skills. Effective verbal and written communication in English is also required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Must be enrolled in or have completed the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules.
  • Non-registered technologists and technicians must complete the A-STEP Online Self Study Modules within two years of enrollment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the performance of Polysomnographic recordings.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the scoring and analysis of Polysomnographic recordings.
  • Current BLS required.

  • Certification or Registered preferred.
