About The Position

The Maine Sleep Center at Chest Medicine Associates, an AASM-accredited facility, is currently hiring Polysomnographic Technologists. This role is available as part-time for night shifts performing PSGs, or per diem for day shifts performing MSLTs. The Maine Sleep Center has been serving patients in the greater Portland, Maine area and from throughout Maine and southern New Hampshire for over 35 years.

Requirements

  • Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (RPSGT) or the RRT-SDS credential is required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience performing PSGs and/or MSLTs.
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Provider certification is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Scoring proficiency is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Review the patient’s history and verify the medical order.
  • Verify patient identification, collect documents, and obtain consent for the study.
  • Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history).
  • Follow sleep center protocols or physician order.
  • Explain the procedure and orient the patient for in-center testing.
  • Provide age-appropriate patient education.
  • Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing to determine proper functioning and adjust if necessary.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to protocol or generally accepted standards.
  • Perform diagnostic polysomnography.
  • Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) interface fitting and desensitization.
  • Perform CPAP/Bi-level/ASV titration studies.
  • Perform MSLT/MWT.
  • Score studies in accordance with AASM standards.
  • Properly clean and disinfect equipment.
