Under the supervision of the Center for Sleep Disorders Director, the Polysomnographic Technologist performs all types of diagnostic testing offered in the department. Functions include equipment and patient calibration, set-up, performance, documentation, and troubleshooting of Polysomnographic recordings, tabulation and processing of test information, and sleep laboratory logistical operations. The role also involves oversight, education, and training of PSG and student technologists during the work shift. The technologist participates in performance improvement programs and new program development. They assume responsibility and accountability for patients in the department and provide care through assessment, observation, and documentation. The position requires the ability to perform emergency procedures, work in a stressful environment under minimal supervision, and possess strong organizational and prioritizing skills. Effective verbal and written communication in English is essential.
