About The Position

Adventist Health Sonora has been one of the area's leading healthcare providers since 1900. This role maintains responsibility for operating and providing adequate maintenance to polysomnographic equipment. Analyzes and conducts sleep studies, in order to provide an accurate diagnosis for patients with sleep disorders. Follows strict safety and privacy protocols. Assists with patient needs and prepares equipment for each use.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT): Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Verifies all prescribed orders.
  • Clarifies orders as necessary using appropriate communication channels as authorized within scope of license or work permit.
  • Operates equipment, sets up techniques, sterile procedure and supplies needed to perform various special procedures.
  • Performs polysomnograms and titrations according to department protocol as authorized within the scope of license or work permit.
  • Prepares and analyze readings for interpretation by a physician.
  • Monitors patient respiration, heart and brain activity during procedure.
  • Operates equipment to record sleep and awake physiology readings of patient.
  • Orders supplies and maintains equipment.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork.
  • Files polysomnogram studies and reports.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of sleep test/interventions against expected outcomes.
  • Uses assessment data to develop and document a sleep test plan.
  • Educates and trains patients on the use of Home Sleep Testing (HST) equipment, as necessary.
  • Supports and trains new employees.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
