About The Position

Anthropic is seeking an experienced Policy Communications Manager to lead external communications for its security, governance, and responsible scaling programs. This role involves shaping how Anthropic communicates about its secure AI development, its Responsible Scaling Policy framework, and its unique corporate structure, including the Long-Term Benefit Trust (LTBT) and its status as a public benefit corporation. The manager will collaborate with security, product, legal, governance, and Responsible Scaling Policy (RSP) teams to articulate Anthropic's approach to building safe and secure AI models, especially as the technology advances in critical areas like cybersecurity. The role also includes communicating about Anthropic's governance, the role of LTBT trustees, the obligations of a public benefit corporation, and the importance of this structure for powerful AI systems. Additionally, the manager will help articulate Anthropic's transparency obligations and public reporting commitments to governments establishing regulatory frameworks for frontier AI, translating evolving requirements into clear external communications. This involves balancing proactive storytelling about product security and launches with reactive handling of emerging issues. The position requires strong communications fundamentals, adaptability to novel issues, experience in issues management, executive management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive topics with care, speed, and accuracy. It's a unique opportunity to define how a leading AI safety company communicates about critical security and governance challenges.
