A civilian employee in this classification will work in the Patrol Bureau of the Division of Police and will report to the Uniform Division Administrator or designee. The duties and responsibilities of the position shall include developing and managing a preventative maintenance program for police vehicles; ensuring that vehicles comply with applicable government regulations, negotiated union contract provisions and licensing requirements; conducting periodic reviews (daily, weekly or monthly) of the status of each vehicle; determining which vehicles require service and scheduling necessary repairs; developing and maintaining outside vendor and service provider relationships; maintaining parts inventories; reporting misuse of abuse of vehicles to appropriate supervisors; developing and managing a fuel purchase/usage program; overseeing the Police Division budget for the fleet; operating various computer software programs related to vehicles maintenance; performing Vehicle Laptop Administrator duties; maintaining the portable and mobile communications radios; and performing related duties and responsibilities as assigned. The employee in this position will also act as the point of contact regarding building maintenance or repair issues, including oversight of the emergency generator and power back-up system for the police building. During emergency situations, this employee may act as the logistics/supply coordinator as assigned.
