About The Position

The Institute for Law Enforcement Education (ILEE) is a recognized leader in law enforcement highway safety training, providing instruction and certifications to thousands of officers annually across the state. This is a unique opportunity to share your knowledge and experience, along with industry best practices and current case law, with Commonwealth law enforcement professionals. This opportunity is ideal for retired law enforcement with street cop experience, as well as knowledge and application of Pennsylvania laws. Active law enforcement with Pennsylvania street cop experience are also encouraged to apply. This position provides specialized leadership, instruction, and guidance in law enforcement training aligned with statewide safety initiatives. The role supports training development, delivery, evaluation, and collaboration with agencies across the Commonwealth.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer that includes or is supplemented by one year of teaching or formal training experience in law enforcement programs, and completion of 60 college credits.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license which is not under suspension.
  • Possess a certificate of successful completion of a police instructor development course.
  • Possess four years of experience as a uniformed vehicle patrolman.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Submission of criminal history reports will be required for a conditional offer of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Retired law enforcement with street cop experience, as well as knowledge and application of Pennsylvania laws.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct instructional courses, ensure curriculum adherence, and guide officers through certification requirements
  • Evaluate research and legal updates to recommend changes to course materials and standards
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to law enforcement programs, including breath test instrument support
  • Manage scheduling logistics, review volunteer applications, and oversee facility approvals for training sessions
  • Maintain accurate inventories of equipment, controlled substances, and course supplies in accordance with policy
  • Collect and review student feedback to support course improvements and verify completion criteria
