Consider this opportunity with the North Carolina State Capitol Police. The purpose of this position is to dispatch law enforcement, fire protection, and EMT personnel to requests for assistance through licensed two-way radio communications equipment; monitor computer assisted intrusion and fire alarm system, emergency and administrative telephones; handle walk-in complaints from citizens and /or refer the person to a police officer; monitor and operate the Division of Criminal Information computer terminal; maintain and control the daily log and complaint records/reports of a given shift; and make emergency notifications as requested by the officer in charge. This Telecommunicator position works to understand and interpret incoming communications and dispatch law enforcement, fire, and emergency units. Telecommunicators receive emergency and non-emergency calls, monitor alarms, security cameras, alerts, and other emergency inputs and react accordingly. Individuals in this role liaise between the public and public safety officials.
