GENERAL PURPOSE Performs a variety of clerical and technical duties to ensure the proper documentation, retention, and reporting of criminal activity. Supports the administrative processes of criminal justice by maintaining police records in compliance with local, state, and federal laws. This classification provides progressive career steps (Technician I-III, Coordinator I-III) with incremental pay, increasing responsibility, and professional development opportunities. Positions are non-supervisory but may include mentoring, training, and advanced responsibilities at higher levels. Employees are expected to progress toward the next step in the series and may be asked to perform duties normally assigned at higher levels, even if they have not yet reached the required years of experience.
