About The Position

The City of Lansing is currently seeking candidates for Police Officer and Police Officer II positions. These positions provide law enforcement and public safety services to the community to include enforcement of criminal statutes and ordinances, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, patrol activity, accident investigation, resolution of domestic and other disturbances, prosecution support, and non-criminal public safety services. These positions require good communication skills & passing of various law enforcement tests. Patrol schedule included 8-hour shifts on a rotating basis. This is a full-time position with an excellent benefit package. Applications will be reviewed weekly.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Reside within a thirty-mile radius of City
  • No criminal record or Brady-Giglio material/issues in background
  • Pass a physical agility test & written exam
  • Pass an extensive background check
  • Be interviewed by oral interview board
  • Be interviewed by the Chief of Police
  • Submit to a psychological evaluation
  • Submit to Physical/Health screening
  • Submit to Drug & Alcohol screening
  • Submit to Functional capacity test

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Kansas Commission on Police Officer Standards and Training (KS-CPOST) certification
  • 5 years experience with another Law Enforcement Agency
  • Instructor Certification in Law Enforcement related discipline, and teach 1 eight-hour class every calendar year.
