About The Position

The purpose of this position is to perform police activities and emergency response in the interest of public safety. This involves responding to calls for service by patrolling assigned districts, enforcing laws and ordinances, issuing citations, making arrests, serving subpoenas, and answering citizen complaints. The role also includes investigating crimes, accidents, or violations by conducting witness and suspect interviews, following up on leads, and completing assigned cases. Field operations such as surveillance, organizing and directing officers, and executing search and arrest warrants are also part of the duties. The officer will prepare documentation of incidents, reports, and search warrants, maintain files, and attend court to testify if necessary. Other similar duties may be required.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of North Carolina General Statutes
  • Knowledge of Basic rules and regulations of criminal investigations, federal, state, city, and department
  • Knowledge of Basic Police investigative and identification techniques
  • Knowledge of Geography of the City of Concord
  • Knowledge of Firearms
  • Knowledge of Computers
  • Possession or ability to obtain North Carolina Basic Law Enforcement Certification. Failure to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire may result in termination.
  • Possession or ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License within sixty (60) days. Failure to obtain within sixty (60) days may result in termination.
  • Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
