About The Position

The City of La Vista, Nebraska is accepting applications from lateral candidates for Police Officer openings. The La Vista Police Department is a well-respected, modern, full-service law enforcement agency that embraces a community policing philosophy. After the testing process, an eligibility list will be certified for current and future openings. The City offers a wage and benefits package and professional growth opportunities. Conditional offers of employment depend on successful completion of a psychological examination, polygraph examination, physical examination, and drug screening. Marijuana/THC use within the past two years or other illegal drug use within the last seven years results in automatic disqualification. All forms and documents must be submitted by 12:00 PM on November 23, 2026. Tentative lateral applicant testing dates, subject to change, include physical agility testing, written test, and police panel interviews on December 17, and Civil Service interviews on February 9.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Certified peace officer.
At least 21 years of age; there is no upper age requirement.
Valid driver's license by the hire date.
U.S. citizenship.
No felony convictions.
No dishonorable discharge from military service.
Successful completion of a psychological examination, polygraph examination, physical examination, and drug screening as a condition of a conditional offer.
No marijuana/THC use within the past two years and no other illegal drug use within the last seven years.
