About The Position

Patrols and responds to calls for service on university property and adjacent jurisdictions in the capacity of an Arizona POST certified peace officer, demonstrating a distinct balance between enforcement and education.

Requirements

Must be eligible to work in the United States; ASU and the ASU Police Department will not provide sponsorship for employment.
Must possess a valid US Driver’s license of the appropriate class and required endorsements throughout employment.

Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience working in a University setting.
Evidence of a degree in the field of law enforcement.
Bachelor’s or Associates Degree.

Responsibilities

Attends a minimum of a twenty four-week training program under supervision of AZ POST instructors to acquire minimum knowledge and skills necessary to perform in Police Officer classification.
Reads and studies instructional or informational material in order to achieve elementary working knowledge.
Prepares for and takes written and physical test to prove knowledge and skill levels.
Receives field training from certified Field Training Officer FTO); applies knowledge from classroom work; receives evaluations from FTO to track progress.
Obtains certification upon meeting AZ POST established minimum standards and passing required examinations (or waiver examinations) within six-month period.
