About The Position

Apply to the University of Iowa for the unique opportunity to police a university community! Patrol campus and make a positive impact on the University of Iowa by creating meaningful influence between students and the surrounding community. Officers have the opportunity to participate in community service projects, educational programs, and student organizational liaison programs. This position is for non-certified candidates that will be trained to become fully certified police officers who can perform the full range of officer duties.

Requirements

Eligible to enroll in the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy and eligible to complete Board of Regents Field Training.
Valid Driver’s license is required and ability to meet and maintain UI Driving Policy.

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree

Responsibilities

Patrols the university campus and outlying property to protect life and property;
Responds to radio dispatches and answer calls on foot, bicycle, or squad car to prevent and detect law violations and apprehend violators
Prepares written investigative reports and documentation;
Investigates harm, damage or threats of potential harm, or damage to persons or property by interviewing witnesses and conducting visual or audio surveillance or searches;
Uses sound logic and independent judgement to react quickly and appropriately in dangerous and emergency situations;
Provides safety services to University of Iowa faculty, staff, and students;
Exercises judgment in interpreting laws, ordinances, policies, and procedures;
Works with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied backgrounds.
