A Police Officer performs responsible law enforcement functions as assigned, including enforcing federal and state laws and local ordinances relating to public safety and welfare. Participates in special programs and projects as assigned. Reports to the Sergeant as assigned. The City will pay you while you attend the Police Academy. It is required that you either have taken and passed the CJBAT (we do not accept FBAT) & Physical Agility Tests or you provide proof of registration for these tests. Candidates will not be disqualified during the initial application process if they have not completed the CJBAT or agility with proof of registration. A Non-Certified Police Officer applicant must pass a completed background examination, video assessment and psychological assessment. Additionally, the applicant must also pass a basic aptitude test and physical agility test. These tests are required by the State of Florida for all applicants seeking to become law enforcement officers. The Agility test administered by the Broward College Institute for Public Safety Criminal Justice Testing Center. The Criminal Justice Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT) is administered by FDLE/Pearson VUE and not required for applicants who possess a college degree (Must Provide Proof of Degree).
