About The Position

The Montgomery County Police Department is seeking motivated individuals who are ready to take on a challenging and rewarding career in law enforcement. Current Montgomery County Police Cadets may apply. Successful candidates will receive a $20,000 hiring bonus. No previous law enforcement experience is required. Requirements

Graduation from High School
Be a U. S. citizen or a permanent legal resident of the United States and an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Armed Forces who has applied to obtain United States citizenship and the application is still pending approval
Not less than twenty-one (21) years old as of the anticipated first day of employment as a sworn Police Officer
Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence

Responsibilities

Patrolling a designated area in the county to preserve the peace and to prevent and discover the commission of crime
Directing traffic at pedestrian crossings and street intersections
Enforcing motor vehicle operating and parking regulations
Performing communication functions
Conducting preliminary investigations at the scene of a crime
Administering first aid
Gathering evidence
Obtaining witnesses
Making arrests
Testifying as a witness in court
