This position is for a Police Officer 2 - Third Shift at the Warrensville Developmental Center.

Requirements

  • Possession of certificate having successfully completed approved basic peace officer training program or completion of 20 yrs. active duty as peace officer per Section 109.78(D) of Ohio revised code.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Applicant must be able to successfully perform Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Program (OPOTC) Fitness Testing Entry Standards for New Recruits.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces rules & laws, patrols grounds on foot &/or in car to ensure safety of residents, staff, buildings & property.
  • Performs security checks within buildings (e.g., checks doors, rooms, parking issues, visitors, unusual activity, etc.).
  • Assist with locating & searching for AWOL residents as requested.
  • Respond to & assist with incidents with & between staff (e.g., break ins, campus crime, workplace violence).
  • Process employee workplace injury incidents (e.g., ensures accident analysis form is completed, take pictures, interview employees).
  • Conducts emergency drills (e.g., fire, tornado, etc.) with staff & provides input into training & disaster planning.
  • Assist with training (e.g., CPR, first aide, etc.).
  • Respond to & assist other law enforcement as needed with issues on campus; makes emergency calls to emergency personnel as requested/needed.
  • Check extinguishers, elevators, water temperature, refrigerator / freezer temperature, power strips & ensure routine service / maintenance completed.
  • Assist grounds office in locating staff.
  • Complete environmental checklists as outlined in Quality Assurance process.
  • Transport residents for security reasons on/off grounds, when determined necessary.
  • Track & maintain required documentation & logs as assigned.
  • May assist with employee termination/exit process (e.g., obtain keys, equipment, etc.).
  • Escort staff off grounds for security reasons (e.g., if placing an employee on administrative leave, if workplace injury, etc.).
  • Answers phone inquiries (e.g., security calls, etc.).
  • Assists local law enforcement departments in the event of an emergency.
  • Assists with emergency evacuations.
  • Records information in emergency situations as directed by supervisor/management.
  • Tracks calls / requests; types reports.
  • Performs other duties within range / scope of position.
